Austin, Texas Physician Elected to American College of Cardiology Board of Trustees

ATLANTA, Georgia, March 24, 2006 — George P. Rodgers, M.D., F.A.C.C., president & chief medical officer of Biophysical Corporation, was elected to the Board of Trustees of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) at the 55th Annual Scientific Session of the ACC. His service to the college includes serving as current chair-elect of the ACC Board of Governors and as president of the Texas Chapter of the ACC.

Rodgers has been in private practice as a cardiologist in Austin since 1989, and he continues to practice clinical cardiology with Austin Heart. He is on the editorial board of the American Heart Hospital Journal. He has published over forty articles on cardiovascular disease and has been the principal investigator on numerous research projects. Rodgers has a special interest in the early detection and treatment of atherosclerosis and is a founding member of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging.

Rodgers received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
