What is Biophysical250?
Biophysical250 is a robust blood assessment that provides the most comprehensive evaluation of an individual's health. Things that happen in your body manifest themselves in your blood biomarkers. The Biophysical250 measures the levels of blood-based biomarkers (see complete list in a sample report), allowing clinicians to identify a person's real and potential health conditions. The benefit is providing more information that individuals and their physicians can use to detect conditions earlier and make better decisions.
How much blood is required to perform the assessment?
Biophysical250 requires a 5-tube sample (approximately 3 tablespoons) of blood to perform this comprehensive assessment. Many of the biomarkers in the Biophysical250 are used by cardiologists, oncologists, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, and other medical specialties. The technology used to perform the Biophysical250 allows us to run hundreds of tests on a relatively small sample of blood.
What is a biomarker?
Biomarkers are proteins, chemicals, and other substances found in the bloodstream, which are measured to indicate health status. Some familiar biomarkers include cholesterol, PSA, estrogen and glucose. Biomarkers are usually evaluated in terms of how they relate to specific areas of medical expertise. However, the Biophysical250 brings measures biomarkers that are used across the full spectrum of medicine, offering a broader diagnostic tool to evaluate one's health status.
Who should take the Biophysical250 assessment?
There is a growing desire among many people to gain greater knowledge of and actively manage their health. Early identification and treatment of disease offers the best chance for a successful outcome. The Biophysical250 offers the most comprehensive and convenient way to gain a complete picture of your health.
Biophysical250 can:
Armed with this knowledge, you and your physician can make the best treatment and monitoring decisions. You do not need to wait until you are symptomatic or until there are irreversible consequences to your health. Biophysical250 is your vehicle to optimum health. Biophysical is for anyone who needs or wants comprehensive information about what's going on in their body.
How is this different from genetic testing?
Genetic testing looks for alterations in a person's genes or changes in the structure of proteins coded by specific genes. A genetic test can provide information about risk for developing a disease A good example is the HERII gene. Women with this gene are at increased risk for developing breast cancer. Because they are at increased risk, many women will choose to increase their monitoring in the hopes of detecting the disease (should it occur) at the earliest stage.
Biophysical250 measures biomarkers in your blood. Biomarker levels often change when disease is present and often the change is in a predictable pattern and at predictable levels. By measuring levels of these biomarkers, you can learn about how your body is responding. A good example is type 2 diabetes. In the early stages of type 2 diabetes, the pancreas produces more insulin. It also produces more insulin by-products such as split proinsulin and C-peptide. Elevations of these biomarkers are an indication of pre-diabetes. Pre-diabetes is a reversible condition. So, biomarker testing provides information about both the risk and the presence of disease. Biomarker testing is a good compliment for people who have learned, through genetic testing, that they may have increased risk for certain diseases.
Can the Biophysical250 diagnose disease?
You should not use the Biophysical250 to diagnose disease; however, many physicians rely on it extensively in their diagnostic process. We strongly encourage all clients to take their results to their physician especially if they are experiencing symptoms. Your Biophysical250 report will highlight and discuss the relevant health issues that you should discuss with your physician. Your physician may need to order additional testing to make a final diagnosis. Only a physician can diagnose a disease or condition. Some biomarkers in the Biophysical250 are for research only. Your physician can help determine the relevance of out of range findings to your health.
Should I consult with my doctor before initiating this program?
We encourage individuals to talk to a personal physician about their results, and our physicians welcome the opportunity to consult with personal physicians in advance of and following the assessment. However, results will only be released to you and a copy will be provided for you to send to your physician.*

How often should I consider taking the Biophysical250?
In general, an individual over the age of 40 in good health should take the Biophysical250 every three to five years, assuming no major changes in lifestyle. Over age 50, one-to-two year intervals may be more appropriate, depending on the actual or potential health risks identified. Regular testing allows for the analysis of trends that can be the earliest sign of impending problems. In addition, Biophysical Corporation has released six focused-panel products, designed to help one monitor specific health concerns, including but not limited to: cardiovascular changes, hormonal imbalances, or diabetes risk. A Biophysical sales representative can assist you on identifying an appropriate monitoring test panel.
Where is Biophysical250 available?
The Biophysical250 is currently available in the United States (except New York, Hawaii and Alaska - please consult this list for specific information), England, Japan, Mexico and Canada. Additional markets are under development.

A physician's order is required before testing will begin on anyone under the age of 18. Please contact a Biophysical Sales Representative for the appropriate Physician's Order Form.
