What is Biophysical250?
Biophysical250 is a robust blood assessment that provides the single most comprehensive evaluation of an individual's health. Everything that happens in your body manifests itself in your blood biomarkers. The Biophysical250 measures the levels of 250 individual blood-based biomarkers (see complete list in a sample report), allowing clinicians to identify a person's real and potential health conditions. The benefit is providing more information that individuals and their physicians can use to detect conditions earlier and make better decisions.
What can Biophysical250 tell me about my health beyond my annual physical?
Annual physical examinations typically evaluate only a limited number of health conditions. Depending on your health history, the blood tests ordered as part of an annual physical generally measure only up to 40 different biomarkers. Biophysical250 delivers a more comprehensive assessment of more than 250 different biomarkers, and may indicate potentially serious medical conditions before symptoms appear (view the Biomarker Glossary). Bear in mind that a high level of fitness does not always indicate a high level of health. Recent studies have shown that even outwardly healthy people can discover the initial stages of serious problems by taking this assessment.
How much blood is required to perform the assessment?
Biophysical250 requires only a sample (approximately 2 tablespoons) of blood to perform this comprehensive assessment. Many of the biomarkers in the Biophysical250 are used by cardiologists, oncologists, rheumatologists, and other medical specialties. However, it would require more than a unit of blood and a combined cost of approximately $30,000- $40,000 to approach the level of detailed analysis delivered by Biophysical250.
What is a biomarker?
Biomarkers are important components in the bloodstream that can indicate health status. There are perhaps 100 blood-based biomarkers that are commonly recognized by physicians as important in disease prevention and treatment. Some familiar biomarkers include cholesterol, PSA, estrogen and glucose.
What is a Biomarker?
Biomarkers are proteins in the bloodstream that can indicate health status. Compared with standard executive physicals that only look at 20-40 biomarkers like cholesterol and glucose, Biophysical250 measures those same markers, plus those used by 12 medical specialists, including cardiologists and oncologists, for a total of more than 250 different biomarkers.
Who should take the Biophysical250 assessment?
The assessment is designed for anyone who is concerned about their health — those who wish to know more about their current state of well-being or about finding hidden factors. Age isn't a factor. Biophysical250 was developed to give you and your physician a far more comprehensive assessment of your total health picture than any other exam or screening.
What makes this assessment tool better or more effective than other types of testing?
The comprehensiveness of Biophysical250 is its greatest asset. Annual examinations, executive physicals, imaging technologies, etc. evaluate a limited number of organ systems and screen only for certain diseases. Biophysical250 delivers a more thorough assessment of the many different metabolic processes and organ systems simultaneously.
How is this different from genetic testing?
A biomarker is not a genetic indicator. Genetic testing delivers information regarding a person's potential for developing a certain disease or condition that cannot be addressed through any type of clinical intervention. In contrast, the Biophysical250 detects biomarkers that are actually present in your blood. Such biomarkers may provide more insight into important health or disease conditions. You and your physician can take steps to improve your health, and the quality of your life, based on the real and potential risks identified by Biophysical250.
Why is analyzing multiple biomarkers important?
There may be a significant benefit in simultaneously measuring multiple biomarkers (a process also called “stacking”). For example, the most commonly used screening test for ovarian cancer is a single biomarker called CA 125. However, CA 125 only identifies Stage I ovarian cancer in 50 percent of cases. The other half of women with early stage cancer will be missed by this single test. If five additional, biologically independent tests, each of which also has an individual detection rate of only 50 percent, are stacked along with the CA 125 test, the theoretical combined detection rate of the six tests increases to 98 percent.

Can the Biophysical250 diagnose disease?
Biophysical250 is not a diagnostic test, but assesses biochemical changes in the body that frequently correlate with specific diseases. Only your personal physician can make the actual diagnosis of a specific disease.
Should I consult with my doctor before initiating this program?
We encourage individuals to talk to a personal physician about their results, and our physicians welcome the opportunity to consult with personal physicians in advance of and following the assessment. However, results will only be released to you and a copy will be provided for you to send to your physician.* We also have ample clinical information on our website to help physicians learn more about Biophysical250. Our research also indicates that a large percentage of people believe it is important for them to actively manage their own health. As a growing percentage of the population moves into middle age, many of these individuals want to ensure that they are making the right choices to maintain a high degree of wellness.
What if my personal physician feels this program is unnecessary?
While many physicians recognize the value that Biophysical250 offers, some may be cautious or conservative in recommending such a comprehensive assessment if a patient appears healthy and has no evident symptoms or problems. Our team of physicians welcomes the opportunity to consult with our clients' physicians. We encourage physicians to call us directly at 800.532.7092 or visit our website (www.biophysicalcorp.com) if they have questions.
Can my doctor discuss my results with a Biophysical physician?
Yes. Our team of physicians welcomes the opportunity to consult with personal physicians in advance of and following the assessment, with the permission of our client. We also have ample clinical information on our website to help physicians learn more about Biophysical250.
How has Biophysical250 been tested?
The technology has been used successfully for years in human clinical trials by the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. Since January 2004, the Biophysical250 has been used on hundreds of individuals. The results have shown that even outwardly healthy people can discover the initial stages of serious problems by taking the Biophysical250.
How do I order the Biophysical250?
You can request your Biophysical250 online, , by phone (800.532.7092) or through one of our partners. In most states, a doctor's order is not required.* Once the request has been initiated, you will be contacted to complete a brief medical questionnaire and schedule a time for your blood to be drawn. This can occur Monday through Thursday (not available Friday through Sunday) at your home, office or other location that you designate. Your blood is then drawn and delivered to our laboratory.
How much does it cost?
The charge for the Biophysical250 is $3,400. This cost is similar to, and in many cases far less than, the cost for physical examinations, elective surgeries and diagnostic procedures that consumers routinely undergo. Many Fortune 500 companies often spend more than $20,000 annually for individual health assessments for their executives. It would cost approximately $30,000-$40,000 to complete the various series of available blood tests that would even come close to the level of detailed analysis delivered by Biophysical250. In this light, Biophysical250 is considerably less expensive than alternate tests to measure the same data.
Do insurance providers cover this assessment?
The Biophysical250 is a preventive procedure that typically is not covered by most insurance providers. As market awareness of Biophysical250 grows, and the value of this assessment is more broadly evident, insurance providers may provide some degree of coverage. Many people can also use the savings in their Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for the assessment. We accept only direct payment from the client for this test.
How quickly can I get the results?
Results are normally returned within 15 business days of the lab's receipt of the blood sample. Results are forwarded to the client by private courier, with a signature required, and online at this website, through a secure, password-protected interface. Privacy policy
If my assessment uncovers something that's possibly wrong, what should I do?
Regardless of the findings, we strongly recommend that you discuss your results with your personal physician. Your physician can help put your results in perspective for any further tracking or treatment. Our physicians will thoroughly discuss any aspects of the results with you and, with your permission, your personal physician. It is important to note that physicians associated with Biophysical250 will not make a diagnosis based on the results.
How is the privacy of my personal results maintained?
Privacy and personalized service are founding principles of the Biophysical250. Reports are delivered by private courier, requiring the recipient's signature, and online at this website, through a secure, password-protected interface. Privacy policy
How often should I consider the Biophysical250 program?
In general, an individual over the age of 40 in good health should take the Biophysical250 every two to three years, assuming no major changes in lifestyle. Over age 50, one-to-two year intervals may be more appropriate, depending on the actual or potential health risks identified. Regular testing allows for the analysis of trends that can be the earliest sign of impending problems.
How is Biophysical250 being used in medical research?
We are working with a number of prominent scientists to define even more precisely the patterns of blood-based biomarkers associated with specific diseases. The combination of Biophysical250's extensive database of results and new findings of the role of emerging biomarkers makes research in this field particularly promising. Our commitment to research is fundamental and ongoing, producing information that is proving to be far more effective in identifying disease states than other forms of testing.
Where is Biophysical250 available?
The Biophysical250 is currently available in the United States (except New York, Hawaii and Alaska - please consult this list for specific information), England, Japan and Canada. Additional markets are under development.
