To compare, if you wanted to test all of these biomarkers using conventional laboratory methods, it would take multiple blood draws and cost significantly more.

How can biomarkers help measure your health status?
In the past few years, there has been increased interest by the medical community around the idea that people can not only live longer lives, but also that these may be healthier years. Researchers are learning that you may be able to affect the length and quality of your life through relatively simple actions such as improving your diet, exercising, learning to reduce stress and getting quality sleep.
Moreover, a recent discovery draws an important connection between chronic low level inflammation and the development of many common diseases. Inflammation, it turns out, may contribute to minor health problems and life-threatening diseases, and potentially to untimely aging. The good news is that chronic low levels of inflammation may be reduced.
When levels of specific biomarkers change dramatically over time, it can be a signal that health problems are developing. Essentially, elevated or low levels of certain biomarkers may be an indication that you have or are developing a serious condition or disease. That's why having your blood tested periodically–and comparing your results over time to previous results–is so valuable for determining if a health problem is developing. Monitoring the change of a biomarker or set of biomarkers over time can help your physician identify potentially serious conditions and diseases even before they present outward symptoms.
