What is BiophysicalPre-D?
Type 2 diabetes is a common condition associated with obesity and age. However, many people over the age of 45 with a high body mass index do not develop the disease. BiophysicalPre-D can identify those patients on a clear path to diabetes that can most benefit from effective intervention.
BiophysicalPre-D is a comprehensive blood test designed to monitor biomarkers associated with pre-diabetic conditions. When performed on a routine basis, BiophysicalPre-D gives you and your physician the relevant tests you need to understand pre-diabetes. We provide a comprehensive report that explains the biomarkers, provides the biomarker levels and, perhaps most importantly, tells whether you have low, medium or high risk for developing pre-diabetes.
BiophysicalPre-D is part of an overall health program that allows you and your doctor to:
- Fully assess your risk for developing diabetes.
- Evaluate the effect of body fat, especially around the abdominal area, on your health.
- Monitor biomarkers associated with pre-diabetes to measure the effect of lifestyle and treatment changes.
Understand how your body is responding to glucose (also known as blood sugar) — this helps determine if you have diabetes, a pre-diabetic condition called insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome, a condition that puts you at high risk for diabetes and heart disease.
