What is the BiophysicalBattery?
This panel of biomarkers focuses on common causes of fatigue: sex hormones, thyroid function, liver dysfunction, iron stores, diabetes markers, blood chemistry and vitamins – even some infectious processes such as Lyme disease. Dozens of biomarkers are evaluated to help your physician guide you back to a more natural state of energy.
Who is the BiophysicalBattery for?
This test is useful for anyone who feels, day in and day out, that they've lost their zeal and vigor. While it is easy to dismiss this as just another part of modern life, too often there may be a medical reason that can be overlooked. We strive to make it affordable for you and your physician to have the tools you need to confront this malady.
Will my insurance pay for this?
Health plans generally do not pay for elective blood evaluation (beyond some very basic tests). However, if your results indicate something that requires further evaluation and testing, there is a good chance that your plan will pay for the follow-up. Your plan administrator will offer you the best information for your situation. These tests are qualified expenses for those who have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Health Savings Account (HSA).
Can I take the BiophysicalBattery if I'm not feeling well?
Unlike some of our other panels, it is expected that most folks who want the BiophysicalBattery will not "feel well", because they are tired. However, we recommend that if you are feeling acutely sick (such as from a head cold, stomach virus, etc.) you wait for all symptoms to pass before getting this test.
Will the BiophysicalBattery tell me if I have cancer or heart disease?
The BiophysicalBattery focuses on those things that can drain your energy. While it is true that could include cancer, we do not test for cancer-associated biomarkers in this panel. If cancer is an area of concern to you, Biophysical offers other panels to look more deeply into markers commonly associated with cancer. As for heart disease, the BiophysicalBattery checks for a biomarker commonly assocated with congestive heart failure, which is a form of heart disease that can cause low energy.
What if I have an abnormal result?
Biophysical recommends that all your results be discussed with your physician. All abnormal results should be evaluated by a physician, so that the appropriate course of action can be determined. For some, simply rechecking the biomarker in a few months will be sufficient. For others it will depend on the biomarker that is elevated, the level of elevation, personal and family history and whether or not there are any other accompanying symptoms. Profound elevations will require more intensive evaluation and monitoring, while many will choose to manage slight elevations with a "wait and re-check" monitoring approach.
Can the BiophysicalBattery be used to evaluate children?
The BiophysicalBattery is not designed for those under 17 years of age. In fact, for many biomarkers there are no established normal values for pediatric patients. If a child's physician feels that a certain panel of tests is warranted, we would of course comply with the physician's request.

How will I get my report and what will it look like?
Your report will be sent to you via email in a password protected file. Your report includes an in-depth explanation of your results. You will also receive a listing of all of your laboratory results. We encourage you to share your report with your personal physician as the information contained in the report will be helpful to the evaluation of your overall health. Any out-of range levels should be shared with your physician to determine the appropriate course of action or treatment.
* Your Biophysical assessment report is intended to be used for health information only. Your report is not diagnostic of any disease or condition and should not be used to self-diagnose or self treat. We encourage every individual to share the results with their personal physician. Only a physician can interpret these results for you, recommend additional testing, recommend treatment and lifestyle changes and/or use the information as a baseline from which future test results can be compared.
No employee of The Biophysical Corporation (Biophysical) will provide individuals who purchase a Biophysical health assessment with a diagnosis of any disease or health condition or any advice regarding follow-up. Biophysical will not recommend any specific follow-up, further evaluation, therapy or treatment based on Biophysical health assessment results.

Out-of-range results do not necessarily indicate a health problem, just as in-range results do not indicate the absence of disease. Please consult with our physician if you are experiencing any symptoms or have any health concerns.
